What is the algorithmic design? 

If you are interested in digital transformation, most probable by now, you heard someone telling you to “stay ahead in architecture with algorithmic design”. It means to design with data-driven geometry in contrast to simple 3D geometry that is based only on XYZ information. Again, what does it mean? In layman term, mix computer science and mathematics with design possibilities to discover and create architectural forms or structures that would be impossible to design with standard CAD tools. What is Rhino? 

Rhino® is one of the most growing and accepted 3D modelling programs for designers (industrial design, jewellery, footwear, naval) and architects. Rhino offers a great number of 3D modelling tools, both surface and solids, all with the precision needed for manufacturing. Any object modelled in Rhino can be used for many post-processing purposes such as 3D printing, structural analysis, documentation, machinery, or rendering. Rhino works on two platforms: macOS and Windows.

Wha is Grasshopper? 

Grasshopper is a graphical algorithm editor that is included in Rhino. Unlike many coding or other programming languages, Grasshopper does not require any programming background. At the same time, it enables designers and architects to create algorithms to generate design alternatives. Grasshopper works on two platforms: macOS and Windows. 

What is ARCHICAD?

ARCHICAD is a tool for architects working in the architecture-engineering-construction (AEC) industry for designing buildings from the conceptual phase all through to construction phase. It is a BIM software developed by GRAPHISOFT enabling architects to work in a BIM (Building Information Modeling/Management) environment. ARCHICAD works on two platforms: macOS and Windows - with no significant differences between them.

The ARCHICAD-Rhino-Grasshopper connection is a toolset that connects the best design tools for the different design stages on both Mac and Windows platforms. These tools fill a gap in the design process between early-stage design and Building Information Modeling.
